Arsenal Top five players of the season

So who have been Arsenals best and most effective players this season?

 Well for me it would be:
Theo Walcott, he’s a brilliant young player who throughout this campaign has shown why he deserves a place in our top squad. With one game left he is the top scorer on 14 goals and has proved he can compete with the other strikers at Arsene Wengers disposal. His speed, agility and determination have shone through this past 8 months or so to show us how good he really is.

Olivier Giroud, a new signing in the summer transfer window, the French forward started his Arsenal career rather slowly, with many fans thinking he was a flop purchase. However when he eventually did start scoring he was getting goals left right and centre, sitting on 11 at the moment going into the last game. And standing at 6ft 4 heading comes naturally to him which has meant as well as his goals he can also handle himself in the box defending corners which is always nice to see.

Per Mertesacker, I think he is our best defensive player, despite him not having brilliant pace I think his height and defensive awareness more than make up for it. He can Defend corners brilliantly, standing at 6ft 6 his heading is phenomenal and he can also leap like a salmon to get any crossed ball. I also find every time I watch him he is always in the right place at the right time to defend all sorts of attacks. Plus with a goal record of 3 this season he is a rather good goal getter for a centre back (Compared to say Rio Ferdinand on 1 in eight years).

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Last season the England youngster really got himself on the map, playing numerous first team games for Arsenal and representing England in the Euros. However he looked shaky at the start of this season. He got much less game time and by halfway through the season he rarely started a game. While he still rarely does he is brought on almost every game. But what an impact he has. When I think about him all I can think of penalties he has won, goals he has scored and assists for him all in the last 20 minutes he is brought on. Plus his ability on the ball is outrageously good, managing to skip past defenders and his extensive tool box of skills makes him almost impossible to defend against. Overall he has made numerous game changing plays and that’s why I think he deserves to be in the Arsenal top 5.

Last but not least Gervais Lombe Yao Kouassi (Gervinho), now I know what you’re thinking ‘Gervinho?’ but wait, just hear me out. Given he doesn’t play an awful lot, and he did miss a chunk of the season in the African cup of nations (Where he played unreal by the way) but in the game time he does get he seems to score every time. He has brilliant speed and the ability to get past numerous defenders. He also manages to find the goal almost every shot he has. He is also a great team player, when he has chances to score he always looks for passes before taking the shot. I think Wenger should give him more time than what he currently gets so we can see more of his talent put to work.

There is my top 5 Arsenal players of the season. However it was very hard to pick from all the players in the club. Feel free to tell us who you think should have made the cut, and tell me if you agree with my choices or not by tweeting either;
