Arsenal top 5 transfer targets
So I think that it is pretty clear to you guys that Arsenal have been linked with several players from all over Europe, but I’m just going to break it down to you on who they should get:
5. Victor Valdes
I know some of you will be surprised but this guy is actually a good keeper, but he doesn’t receive the accolades that he deserves because of the reputation he gets for making such disastrous mistakes. He would provide the great competition for Wojiech Szezcney, who is a fantastic shot stopper but the fact remains that he needs to have quality competition for the number one spot, why? He gets too complacent after a while. Moving back to Valdes, he would provide great experience in the Champions League for not only Szezcney but the whole team as well; he will be a great leader for Arsenal at the back. He will provide something that the gunners have been missing: a winning mentality. Plus he is free this summer!
4. Jesus Navas
Now this guy, he knows the score. He has been a key winger for Sevilla and for the Spanish National Team. That guy is fast, full of trickery, scores really good goals and most of all he is consistent, game in game out he performs at the top level. It will raise competition for him Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the flanks. Plus I think Arsenal would be able to convince him with the prospect of Champions League, seeing as Sevilla will not be participating in the most prestigious club competition in Europe. There would be some difficulty in getting him, as it would require putting over £18million and they would face competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Man City, PSG.
3. Ashley Williams
I think this signing is only possible, if Thomas Vermaelen is to leave the club in the summer. Nevertheless Arsenal needs a defender that could cover for Mertesacker or Koscielny. But it is imperative that they get someone from the PREMIER LEAGUE, because as I have noticed defenders from that come from different countries who come to play in the Prem tend to struggle for the first 6 months or even the first season or so. This makes me believe that Williams is the ideal Centre Back that arsenal should buy. He is tough, great tackler, would fit perfectly into the Arsenal passing philosophy and he is a great leader, as he has shown at Swansea. Arsenal had also been talks with representatives of Swansea for the welsh skipper earlier this year in March according to various reports, but nothing has been said since then...
2. Wayne Rooney
Now this one, I started picking this one since it Sir Alex Ferguson had said that Wayne Rooney has handed in a transfer request. It then became apparent that Arsenal became interested in the England front man. In my opinion I feel that the gunners should go in for Rooney. He would be such an asset for Arsenal on the pitch. He would make such a huge difference to the squad, because he commits himself to the game, he tracks back and he leads by example on the pitch. His versatility would be less of a headache for Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, as Rooney has proved this season he can play in the central midfield role as well as a striking role. So scores goal, good free kicks, and great battler in the middle of the pitch… All for £25 million! (And potentially £200k a week too)
1. Stevan Jovetic
It is a priority that Arsenal gets their cheque book out and pay Fiorentina their money for this guy. He may be the one to solve all of Arsenal’s striker problems. The inconsistency of Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, is one of the reasons why the gunners have not finished in the position that they had wanted to finish in. But this man, along with all my other candidates would be the Jewel in the crown. Jovetic is the second best striker in the Italian Serie A behind Edinson Cavani in my opinion. That man can contribute quality passing not just being the typical frontman who just runs and scores. He would fit perfectly into the Arsenal starting XI. So it is a priority that the North London club get this right with the strikers.
