A lot of Questions and so on..

For all those that have been football fans from childhood, I’m sure you can relate with me when I say

that we had some heroes representing our team. These were the kind of guys who wore their heart on the sleeve for the club, the kind of guys that had you on your feet whenever they started to move with the ball. You always emulated their style of play whenever you were out playing with friends or if you were playing for your local team.

When I was growing I remember seeing Thierry Henry silencing the Santiago Bernabeu, after he steamrolled his way past a supreme Real Madrid team.

When I was growing up I remember seeing Kolo Toure, Martin Keown, Sol Campbell taking absolutely no nonsense from anyone at the back. Whether it was Ronaldo (R9) or Ruud Van Nistelrooy (meh), they never let it intimidate them.

When I was growing up, seeing young players play alongside the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and more filled me with pride. Why? They learnt from the best, they playing with LEADERS, people who understood what it meant to represent the club. Take Cesc or even Jermaine Pennant damn it. Could you imagine how they must have felt when they were sitting in the same changing room as those guys?

So why has that changed? Where has all that pride gone? The lack of quality, can someone explain that to me? Arsenal Football Club were supposed to have been under transition and preparing to compete with the very best clubs in Europe. Yet it feels like we have stagnated and regressed to the point that Tottenham are going to finish ahead of us. Tottenham.

Arsene Wenger. Le Profeseur. The risk taker. The innovation. Where is that same manager? Why hasn’t he taken risks with his tactics? What has he done to improve his tactics? Anything? You know with the tactical revolution that has come about, with new managers emerging all over the place the game has changed and is constantly changing. With the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho, Diego Simeone- these managers redefining the game, in the way that they set their teams out to play, in the way they manage the players. Is Monsieur Wenger evolving himself to stay in the game? Is he taking the risks in the transfer window to buy better players in order to improve his team? If not what is he doing? Does he want to improve? If not, shouldn’t we move on?

The fans. The Gooners. The 12th man; I wonder whether Arsenal pay attention to the fans anymore. When it comes to ticket prices or when it comes to AST meetings. Questions are always asked and these guys who are in charge of the club always seem to find a way to dodge the question. Not good enough. The crowd at the Emirates seem tear our players apart at the first mistake. Not good enough. Supporters. Definition, “ a supporter who approves of and encourages a public figure etc” so why aren’t we encouraging the players throughout, don’t you think they need it?

Arsenal players. All this about being proud to play for Arsenal. Being Arsenal through and through blah blah blah. I tell you now if these guys were giving the type of performances they are giving now at somewhere like Barcelona or Real Madrid; they’d be sleeping at their training ground (see Gareth Bale last season…)

Its not all doom and gloom for Arsenal I must say, we’ve had our good times despite the adversity we’ve faced as supporters. St Totteringham’s Day was always good. Back to back FA Cups? Can’t really fault that either.

To a better future? I hope certainly hope so.

Till the next time.
