Deals galore
The transfer market is currently booming with players being released,
sold ad bought all over the world. Who will move where, and for how much in
this money blistering era?
News has
already broken hat mouthy Brazilian winger Neymar has moved to Spanish giants
FC Barcelona in a $48m deal from Santos. The silky winger lit the Brazilian
league alight with his quick
footwork and dazzling pace, however as always is such question asked, but, could he cut it in the Premier League? Well in my opinion, NO.
After mouthing
off, slating England’s chances of any success – prior to the England Brazil
game at Wembley – the worrying winger was put right in his place as the three
lions triumphantly beat the ‘footballing gods’ 2-1. And it didn’t even stop
there, as he carried on prior to a secondary friendly at the Macarana stadium
in Brazil. This time, I was rather worried, as on samba soil, it was likely we
were going to be smashed. The game finished 2-2 and didn’t I have a smile on my
face that the over-rated winger in Neymar was told not to mess with England
again. For me such deal may backfire for the Catalans; however they are brilliant
at nurturing young talent so maybe Neymar will have something to spout about
come the world cup, let’s just hope he doesn’t.
Meanwhile in
the Barclays premier League, Fulham have been quick with the business, shocking
myself with the capture of Roma, and Holland keeper Marten Stekelenburg. Long-time
Premier League regular Mark Schwarzer was released prior to this deal, but for
the West London club to bring in such player, they may be pushing for a higher
spot next season with the ambition of Europa League football?
West Ham
United have also been busy, especially with the free transfers – of which were brilliant
business of manager Sam Allardyce’s last season –as the Hammers have signed
Shaktar Donetsk left back Razvan Rat and Spanish goalkeeper Adrian San Miguel. Let’s
just hope the hammers don’t have to down themselves in the San Miguel next
season as chairman David Gold explains that the East London outfit are looking for
a higher finish than 10th next season.
The Barclays
Premier League has seen some pretty decent players being released with West Ham
forward Carlton Cole being allowed to leave. Cole’s former mentor at Chelsea is
looking to take him to the Hawthorns as Steve Clarke looks to build on a good
season. The highly rated youngster never really fulfilled his potential, even
becoming a bench-warmer at Upton Park, but with Clarke having worked with Cole
many times in their careers, maybe he sees something in the striker that others
haven’t?
It cannot go
unstated that Tottenham are going to be burgled this summer as PSG look to take
away their manager, Andres Villas Boas, and Real Madrid look set to launch a
record breaking £85m bid for Welsh winger Gareth Bale who has gone from strength
to strength in past seasons. The deal could look more likely if Madrid star
Cristiano Ronaldo makes a move back to the Premier League with Manchester United;
however the Spurs aren’t keen on selling such integral player. Despite saying
that, with such an audacious sum of money being lined up, will they have any
other choice but to accept the deal?
Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is being lined up as possible
replacement for Scott Parker with the 32 year old likely to be offloaded as
City plan a revamp. Parker has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane
following his move from West Ham United, and it now seems that the Hammers had
the better of the deal, although at first such proposal wasn’t considered with
them selling their best asset.
