Is Guardiola Really worth it?

So I’ve noticed that many football fans all over Europe are wondering why there is any need for Pep Guardiola to go to Bayern Munich.

I mean you can call it both ways, could be a good appointment or can be an epic fail for the Spaniard. So I take a look on why this may be a good appointment for Bayern Munich and why it may also be a bad appointment for Die Roten.

Advantages of bringing Pep

Firstly he will bring in fresh start for the Bavarians and he will be like a brand new start for them after coming out of their enthralling win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Secondly there is no egoistic players in Munich (except maybe Arjen Robben) and they are all very hard working, all of them will track back; the majority of them go forward. It is nothing like the relationship that he had with former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovich, whose relationship quickly deteriorated between the two, it shouldn’t be a worry however as it is seen that Mario Mandzukic, is a much more hard working striker than Zlatan will ever be? Pep’s famous Tiki Taka tactics will benefit more for the players like newcomers Mario Goetze, very silky playmaker and suits the passing philosophy that Guardiola loves playing.

It will also benefit perhaps the best player Toni Kroos, who missed out on the Champions League Final through injury. It was pretty evident that Bayern could not get through Dortmund's first half pressing; Kroos' influence was deeply missed in the middle. Guardiola will also learn to appreciate the technical brilliance of Toni Kroos and his selfishness in the game. His absence in the European cup final will make him hungrier to be in the final next year in Lisbon, as he will be vying to get in on the action this time.

Disadvantages of Guardiola coming in

Ok, so yes there is no doubt that ex Barcelona manager is a great coach. But what difference will he make at Bayern? With the Bavarians starring German Cup final this weekend they have the chance to win the treble and become the first German club to do so.  How is he going to replicate that exactly? Their league record has been pretty astonishing this season, having a 25 point gap over fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund and losing only 1 game in the entire season. Granted Barcelona had achieved the same type of feat in the season 2010-2011 where they completely dominated La Liga losing only 1 game in the process and winning the Champions League.

Trying to put an input of the Tiki Taka game will be incredibly difficult for the Catalan coach, when you have players like Arjen Robben or Franck Ribery, who are seen as incredibly talented players yet really selfish players. Also Bayern have also traditionally played attacking football on the flanks, rather than through the middle that Guardiola prefers.

Now then Guardiola’s first test will be a reunion with Europa League winners, Chelsea (the club that he was heavily linked with in January) in the UEFA Super Cup. It could also the restart of the famous rivalry between him Jose Mourinho, should the Portuguese head back to Stamford Bridge.
