Stoke Set to Survive

Stoke win for the second time in a row and are now all but safe after a rare goal from experienced midfielder Charlie Adam was enough to see off fellow strugglers Norwich in a tense game at the Britannia.

The potters have now reached the magic 40 points mark leapfrogging the canneries who sit on 38 points and are still involved in the dogfight to try and survive the drop to the championship. Charlie Adam leaped onto the end of Peter Crouch's knockdown and calmly slotted he ball past the Norwich keeper on the 40th minute and this was enough to keep a helpless Norwich who lacked ideas.

Norwich had the first opportunity of the game when Robert Snodgrass headed over the bar despite doing well to latch on the cross. Bradley Johnson the struck a shot over the bar but stoke were better on the ball as they were lofting free kicks and crosses into the danger area which has worked for the past 5 premier league seasons and worked again as Stoke were going back to basics which got them where they are today.

After Adams goal he tried to repay the favour to Peter crouch when he missed a sitter in front of goal which Tony Pulis knew would have been a massive goal and would cement their place in the premier league for a sixth consecutive season.

The second half was rather sloppy as a whole and Norwich were very wasteful on attack as Asmir Begovic collected numerous of wasteful crosses by the Norwich wide men. Stoke threatened little in the second half and there were not many good chances as Stoke went on the defensive and the route one balls were still not as successful as they have been in previous seasons.

On the whole the game was rather sloppy but it was a big win for Pulis' men as they reached the 40 point mark and are now surely safe, however it leaves the Canaries sitting on 38 points and according to their manager they only need one more win out of their remaining games.
